Leafy Corner Trailing Plants
Cascading and hanging species for late-order boards after reputation level 4.
What Trailing means in Leafy Corner
Trailing is a plant attribute used on customer requests and order cards for species with cascading or hanging growth habits—think vines and spillers that look at home on high shelves, hanging pots, or counter edges. Panels in the Plant Compendium and placed pots surface the flag alongside size, watering needs, and pet-safe labels. You do not need botanical jargon; if the UI says Trailing, that plant can satisfy Trailing-tagged walk-ins and orders.
Patch 1.0.3 (August 2, 2026) made the attribute progression-relevant: orders that require Trailing no longer appear before reputation level 4. Early shops stay focused on simpler trait mixes; hanging stock becomes a mid-game planning goal. Full notes: Patch 1.0.3.
Why Fireline gated Trailing orders
Before 1.0.3, Trailing orders could surface too early—before many players had unlocked enough cascading species or shelf space to answer calmly. Gating them until reputation 4 keeps How to Complete Orders paced with Reputation Tiers and Shop Expansion. You still meet walk-in customers with other traits at levels 1–3; Trailing becomes a structured board challenge once your catalog and layout can support hanging displays.
That change does not remove Trailing plants from early unlock lists—you can grow and sell them sooner for décor and casual sales. Only orders that require the attribute wait for tier four.
How to prepare before reputation 4
- Raise reputation with tasks, healthy displays, and non-trailing orders via How to Increase Reputation.
- Spend Plant Tokens on at least two Trailing-flagged species so you are not stuck buying under pressure.
- Reserve a high shelf or hanging-friendly zone in Pause and Shop Layout so cascading leaves stay visible and waterable.
- Confirm watering routes—trailing pots on tall furniture still show white/blue droplets; see How to Water Plants.
- Cross-check pet-safe flags if animal homes visit your shop—Trailing and pet-safe can overlap on some species but never assume.
Display tips for cascading stock
Height beats crowding — Trailing species read better when they can spill. Place them on upper shelves or edges rather than burying them between large upright foliage.
Watering camera path — After pause rearranges, walk the camera from Controls so hanging pots are not hidden behind sofas (1.0.3 also fixed a sofa clipping visual—nice for screenshots).
Order staging shelf — Keep one mature Trailing plant in a back-row “order ready” spot so tier-four requests do not force emergency growth days.
Variegated trailers — Patterned cascading leaves double as variegation showpieces for entrance prestige once unlocked.
Matching Trailing with other traits
Orders rarely ask for Trailing alone. Combine with size, watering, or pet-safe filters using the Plant Request Matcher offline, then confirm panels in-game. Example scenarios:
- Trailing + compact — apartment vine for a small shelf.
- Trailing + low water — easier Deck sessions with Reduced Watering after the 1.0.3 buff.
- Trailing + pet-safe — only when both flags appear; never invent safety from growth habit alone.
Walk-in help still follows How to Help Customers—read the request card before offering the first hanging pot you see.
Demo vs full game
The Steam Demo teaches trait reading with a nine-species slice and may not expose every Trailing order path. Treat demo sessions as vocabulary practice. Full ownership at $9.99 (Steam 20% intro through August 13, 2026) opens the long-tail catalog where Trailing diversity matters for mid-tier boards.
Common mistakes
Stocking only upright foliage, then hitting reputation 4 with empty Trailing answers.
Hanging every trailer on one crowded rack so watering and screenshots suffer.
Ignoring pet-safe when Trailing and animal homes collide.
Assigning one Trailing pot to two paused customers—1.0.3 fixed the crash, but unique pots per shopper remain the calm habit.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Leafy Corner players.
When do Trailing orders unlock?
After reputation level 4, per patch 1.0.3. See [Patch 1.0.3](/updates/patch-1-0-3/).
Can I grow Trailing plants before level 4?
Yes. You can unlock, grow, and sell them earlier—only Trailing-required orders wait for tier four.
Is Trailing the same as pet-safe?
No. Check both flags on the plant panel. Use [Pet-Safe Plants](/plants/pet-safe-plants/) when animals matter.
Where should I display Trailing species?
High shelves or edges so cascading leaves read clearly—plan layouts on [Pause and Shop Layout](/guides/pause-and-shop-layout/).
